Profile

I graduated from the University of Melbourne with a degree in Bachelor of Biomedical Science in 2002 and B.Sc Honours (majoring in Genetics) in 2003. My honours project involved studying the transcription regulation of the stoned locus in Drosophila. In 2002, I also received a NHF summer scholarship for completing a 6-week research project looking at polymorphism in 3-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and it’s role in cardiovascular disease

Research Profile, Interests and Recent Publications

Currently, I’m working on various projects aimed at understanding the role of Angiotensin II receptors in the rostral ventral lateral medulla (RVLM) region of the brain in cardiovascular control and disease. My day-to-day work involves the designing, production and characterisation of adenoviruses used in these projects by employing various molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA cloning, Western blotting, etc, and mammalian tissue cultures.

Recent Publications:
Allen AM, Dosanjh J, Erac M, Dassanayake S, Hannan RD, Thomas WG. Expression of constiutively active angiotensin receptors in the rostral ventrolateral medulla increases blood pressure. Hypertension 2006; 47(6):1054-61.
