ProfileI completed a Bachelor of Physical Education with Honours (exercise and sport science) in 2006 at Otago University. My Honours research looked that the separate and interactive effects of hydration and aerobic fitness on endurance performance and physiological strain. I commenced my PhD at the University of Melbourne in March of 2007. TeachingDemonstrator: Physiology of Muscle and Exercise 536-308 Research Profile, Interests and Recent PublicationsMy PhD research is looking at the mechanisms of exercise-stimulated glucose uptake. Of particular interest are the down stream pathway(s) through which nitric oxide increases glucose uptake, and the role that reactive oxygen species may play in signaling glucose uptake during contraction. My supervisors are Dr. Glenn McConell and Professor Mark Hargreaves. |
